The most selective program in Sweden
In 2025, Engineering Mathematics and Engineering Physics at KTH had the highest admission scores of any university program in the country — Engineering Mathematics required a grade point average of 22.4 out of a maximum of 22.5.

Program structure
Five years, in two parts: a three-year bachelor's foundation shared by all students, then a two-year master's. It carries far more mathematics than other KTH engineering degrees — theoretical and applied, including mathematical statistics, optimisation, and computational mathematics — paired throughout with programming.
Master's direction
MSc Machine Learning
From year four I lean toward KTH's Machine Learning master's: the mathematical and statistical foundations of learning from data, plus hands-on work applying and implementing ML across domains like computer vision, language, and optimisation — with a strong thread of deep learning and generative AI.

Year by year

Year 1 — Foundations
Linear algebra, single- and multivariable analysis, probability and statistics, and computational methods; programming in Python with algorithms and data structures; mechanics applied through a particle-dynamics project.

Year 2 — Depth
Statistical learning and data analysis, differential equations (analytical and numerical), discrete mathematics, and further linear algebra; object-oriented programming and software development; physics built for the program.

Year 3 — Specialisation (current)
Currently in year three: optimisation theory plus electives I chose to lean toward data and ML — Nonlinear Algebra, Machine Learning, Markov Chain Monte Carlo (advanced statistics), and Regression Analysis — completing the bachelor's foundation.

Years 4–5 — Master's
The Machine Learning master's: mandatory ML and AI courses, advanced ML and research methodology, then theory and application tracks, finishing with a degree project in research or industry.
